Can a Horde person go in an Alliance capitol?

Okay so I need to go to Stormwind to get to the Darkshore to get to Ashenvale to get to Azshara. But when I enter Stormwind will NPCs/players start attacking me? I'm on a normal server. Sorry if this is a noobish question, I'm new to this game.
