A new world order (for lack of a better term)?

Yes. Most people don't naturally gravitate towards scientific pursuits, and most people ESPECIALLY don't gravitate towards overcoming their differences. Besides, a single, world government could still become corrupt just as easily as any other, and the consequences would be far worse when the corrupt have so much more power.
