Doesn't the selection committee undermine the point of season standings for NCAA Tournament qualification?

I think it would be better for the NCAA to work like the NBA as far as post season qualification goes. Just do it based on how the team does and their record rather than having a selection committee of possibly biased people judge who gets in. It's not really fair to the players in some ways but then in a way the whole collegiate system in men's basketball is not too different from slave labor within the incarceration system if you consider that the collegiate league makes lots of money off the sports teams and I wonder how much of that money goes to tutoring the players since a big deal is made of low graduation rates. I guess not much.
